A scrappy game that saw the points shared as Southport once again squandered the lead.
There were plenty of chances for Southport to have taken all three points but poor finishing was the downfall and we were made to pay.
The first chance came after just 40 seconds when Chris Sze found himself in on goal but couldnt supply the finish.
Chris Sze did open the scoring from the penalty spot after 47 minutes after he himself had been tripped in the six yard box.
The same player had a golden opportunity to grab a second minutes later but his attempt at goal was well saved by the Boro ‘keeper.
A triple substitution brought some life into the visitors and they duly equalised on 77 minutes through former ‘Port player Richie Bennett who smashed home a lose ball from 10 yards out.
After two 4-2 defeats in a row it was good to stop the losses but it did feel like the three points were there for the taking this afternoon but it wasn’t to be.
