Added time heartbreak for The Sandgrounders.

A late Buxton equaliser denied the home side all three points just when it looked like Southport were going to hold on to the lead.

Malakai McKenzie with a trademark goal in the 18th minute had given Southport the lead and that is how it stood at half time.

A tremendous save by Evans in the Buxton goal, in the 47th minute, from a Danny Lloyd shot kept the score at 1-0 and Southport were looking comfortable.

A straight red card for a poor challenge by Danny Lloyd midway through the second half changed the game and it was backs to the wall from then on.

Solomon Honor in the Southport goal made a string of excellent saves to keep the score at 1-0 but there was an air of inevitabilty that a goal was coming and it duly arrived in the 92nd minute to give the visitors a share of the points.
