Attacking Prospect Becomes Sandgrounder
We’re delighted to announce the signing of Malakai McKenzie on an initial one-year deal, with the option of an extra year in the Club’s favour.
Malakai is a talented right winger who loves to dribble at defenders, sure to get supporters off their seats. Despite his young age, at just 21 he has racked up plenty of experience.
He started out his career at Bolton Wanderers, emerging through the youth ranks before sealing a move to Bury, then Chorley. He then had a stint at Icelandic club Dalvík/Reynir in 2022 before becoming a part of the FC Malaga City Academy, famous for showcasing the top unsigned talents across the globe. Malakai also featured for Avro FC in the 2024-25 season.
He reflects well on his experiences and claims that they will help him add something new to this Southport team, injecting excitement into our attack.
