Another defeat on the road as Harborough run out 1-0 winners which leaves Southport with just one point from our six games this season on our travels.

The scoreline flatters the Sandgrounders who could have been out of sight at half time but a combination of good goalkeeping and poor finishing kept it down to 1-0 at the break. The goal came after 9 minutes as the defence failed to clear a corner leaving O’Sullivan with an easy chance to fire home from close range.

Southport rarely threatened the home goal in the first half. A Teddy Lavelle effort from range was comfortably saved by the ‘keeper and after a goalkeeping error nearly let in Adam Moseley late in the half but he was unable to convert. It had been backs to the wall but the positive was it was only 1-0.

Southport did enjoy a spell of pressure in the second period but rarely looked like scoring despite the improved showing and it was the home side who came closest to scoring on several occasions.

Not a good afternoon on the road for the 97 travelling fans in the gate of 860.
