We are saddened to learn of the passing of Darren Beckford who died today aged 59.

Darren only made one sub appearance for the club in a Splading Cup tie at Leek Town in October 1997 but scored the only goal in a 3-1 defeat.

He enjoyed a great career with over 300 Football League appearances to his name including 167 for Port Vale scoring 67 goals. He also enjoyed spells at Norwich city and Oldham Athletic.

Our condolences go out to all of Darren’s family and friends.
