Southport Football Club wishes to update supporters regarding the situation with Festus Arthur.

Festus rejoined us from Hyde United on a non-contract basis. Given his previous injury problems, we gave him the platform to regain fitness, trusting in his ability and welcoming him back as a fans’ favourite.

After his return to action, Chester FC submitted a 7-day approach. In response, the club moved swiftly to offer Festus a deal that reflected both his ability and the value we placed on keeping him at Haig Avenue. Despite this, Festus has chosen to leave Southport and join Chester, citing the convenience of their training schedule as his reason.

While we are disappointed with this outcome, we respect his decision and wish him well for the future. Our focus now is on continuing to strengthen the squad and pushing forward as a club.
