A sparkling start by the home side saw a super finish from Sol Solomon after just five minutes to give The Sandgrounders the lead.
The signs were looking very positive in the opening stages of the game under the new management of Cal McIntyre in charge of the side for the first time.
As the half drew on the visitors grew more into the game and only some excellent ‘keeping by Douglass Lukjanciks in the home goal helped Southport maintain the lead.
It took a cruel deflection after 33 minutes to wrong foot the unlucky ‘keeper to bring the scores level.
Our visitors had squandered a great chance to take the lead earlier when they were awarded a free kick on the edge of the six yard box after we think Lukjanciks had picked the ball up twice after making a fine close range but it was cleared vy the Southpoprt defence massed on the line.
Telford took the lead after 68 minutes with a fine finish from Moult who curled the ball round the desparing dive of the Lujanciks.
Southport found it difficult to create clear cut openings but the best chance of the game fell to substitute Daniel Ogwuru who missed a header from close range in added time.
To make matter worse Regan Griffiths was shown a red card in added time.
A disasppointing end to an afternoon that had started brightly but ended in defeat,
