Southport exit the FA Cup at the hands of Morecambe after a 2-0 defeat at the Halo Aerospace Stadium.
Goals in the 55th minute from Paul Lewis and the customary goal by former ‘Port player Isaac Buckley-Ricketts in added time sealed the Sandgrounders fate.
Southport played much better than last week’s poor display at Worksop and it was Morecambe ‘keeper Myles Boney who was named man of the match that kept the home side in the game but once again Southport were unable to find the back of the net on the road.
Arguably Morecambe played much better in defeat at Haig Avenue ten days ago than today but came out on top in this encounter.
Rhys Healey came on for his debut after his signing earlier in the week and showed up well up front in his 20 minutes on the pitch.
It was not to be for the visitors and attention turns to a midweek Lancashire Challenge Trophy game at Garstang before a big game against bottom of the table Spennymoor Town on Saturday.
