Manager Neil Danns

Neil joined the club in May 2025 after spending two years as Assistant Manager at Tranmere Rovers.

Following a 20-year playing career, Neil made the transition into coaching and management, being appointed as player-manager by Macclesfield and leading them to promotion to the Northern Premier League as champions before being appointed as assistant manager at Tranmere Rovers in May 2023.

After a shaky start at Haig Avenue, he turned things around in dramatic fashion leading the club on an amazing run to the FA Trophy Semi Finals and to a 14^th place finish in National North.

Assistant Manager Mark Duffy

Mark Duffy is no stranger to Haig Avenue where he made 103 appearances in total scoring 19 goals in all competitions. Mark was actually named as the head coach at Macclesfield following the departure of Neil Danns from Macc and after leaving The Silkmen he had a short spell as manager at Warrington Rylands before once again joining up with Neil at Southport.

Solomon Honor Goalkeeper

At 6’ 6” Sol is a big presence in goal. On a season long loan from Manchester United The 20-year-old spent eight years in Manchester City’s academy before moving to Blackburn Rovers, where he progressed through the club’s Under-18 and Under-21 sides and signed a two-year professional contract in 2024.

Sol also gained senior experience during loan spells with Clitheroe and Atherton Collieries. He now arrives at Haig Avenue looking to continue his development with regular National League North football.

Dan Pike Defender

Dan Initially joined the club at the back end of 2024-25 on a non contract basis and made seven appearances but impressed and was offered a contract for the 2025-26 season in July.

Dan had been at Dundalk in the League of Ireland Premier Division, featuring ten times before picking up a bad injury after signing back in July 2024.

Prior to that, Dan played for Tranmere Rovers, AFC Fylde & Blackburn Rovers.

The 2025-26 season saw a series of injuries for Dan and we are all hoping he has more luck this season.

Dylan Dwyer Defender

Into his second season with Southport. A strong defensive player but equally at home pushing forward in a more advanced role. His 2025-26 season was cut short by a broken leg but has been showing impressive form in the warm up games. Signed from Clitheroe in November 2025 and readily made the step up.

Sam Minihan Defender

Sam is in his third season at the club having signed in the summer of 2024 from Buxton A right back with plenty of experience having made close on 200 appearances for Stockport County before joining FC Halifax in the 2022-23 season. A whole-hearted and fully committed player with a never say die attitude. Appointed Vice Captain for 2026-27

Matty Williams Defender

A ball playing centre back, Matty signed his first professional contract with Accrington Stanley in 2019 with loan spells at Lancaster City before joining Chester in 2021

Matty joined Chester FC in June 2021 and following a successful time at the Blues during a Trial Event, he signed on the dotted line. Matty was equally fast in making a big impact at the club. In his maiden campaign he played 35 times, scored five goals and was named CFU Player of the Season for 2021/22. His progression continued in 2022/23, stepping up in style as a more senior member of the defensive unit. Matty made 44 appearances, scoring three times, and being a part of the best defensive side in the National League North.

Matty suffered a serious knee injury in September 2024 and had a long spell out of the game before joining Southport February 2026 A fully fit Matty will be a great asset to Southport

Max Davies Defender

Max joins Southport on loan from Blackburn Rovers after committing his long-term future to the Championship club earlier this year. The 19-year-old centre-back signed a new contract until the summer of 2029, with Blackburn retaining the option of a further year, reflecting the club’s belief in his potential after progressing through their academy since Under-13 level.

Max signed his first professional contract in 2024 and has since become a regular for Blackburn’s Under-21 side. He also gained his first taste of senior football during a loan spell with Warrington Rylands before continuing his development with the Championship club.
The move to Haig Avenue allows Max to gain regular National League North experience as he continues his development in senior football.

Kyle Jameson Defender

After beginning his career in Everton’s academy, the left-footed defender joined Southport’s Under-18 side in 2016, featuring in the FA Youth Cup before earning a trial with Chelsea. Having continued to monitor his progress following his release by Everton, the Premier League club offered him a permanent deal after a successful trial. Kyle was part of Chelsea’s academy set-up before joining West Bromwich Albion on transfer deadline day in August 2017. He featured regularly for the Baggies’ Premier League 2 side and gained experience in the EFL Trophy before making his first move into senior football with Barrow.

A series of impressive performances earned him a move to AFC Fylde. He then stepped into the Football League with Oldham Athletic before signing a two-year contract with Newport County in 2023. Following the expiry of that deal, he had a brief spell with Harrogate Town before joining Morecambe in February this year.

Standing around 6 ft 3 in, Jameson provides an imposing aerial presence in both penalty areas. While almost all of his senior football has come at centre-back, he is naturally left-footed, comfortable in possession and possesses the pace to operate at left-back when required.

Harry Perritt Defender/Midfield

Harry arrives after three seasons with National League North side Alfreton Town and is capable of playing at centre-back, right-back or in midfield.

Born in Knowsley, he began his youth career with Preston North End before joining Accrington Stanley’s academy in 2011 at the age of 11. He signed his first professional contract with the League One club in July 2019 and went on to make 11 first-team appearances, making his Football League debut against Wigan Athletic in March 2021.

He later gained senior experience during loan spells with Torquay United and Altrincham before returning to Altrincham on a permanent transfer in 2023. Following his release at the end of that season, Harry joined Alfreton, where he established himself as a regular in National League North.

The move also marks a return of sorts to Haig Avenue. Harry spent time on loan with Southport during the 2020-21 season and was named among the substitutes for the club’s FA Trophy tie against Torquay United, although he did not make a competitive appearance.

Still only 25, Harry arrives with experience across the Football League, National League and National League North.

Ted Lavelle Midfield

Teddy joined the club in the summer of 2025 following his departure from FC Halifax Town at the end of the 2024-25 season and went on to have an excellent season with The Sandgrounders scoring some vital goals and playing in 55 games across all competitions.

Teddy already has plenty of experience in men’s football, spending time on loan at Colne, Bradford Park Avenue, Lancaster City & Mossley AFC, racking up over 100 appearances in men’s football.

The 6ft 2in midfielder signed his first professional deal with FC Halifax Town in September 2023.

Danny Lloyd Midfield

Appointed Club Captain for 2026-27.

Danny rejoined the club at the end of 2023-24 after an absence of twelve years having been involved in the club’s PASE set up back in 2008 and made 1 sub league appearance in the 2009-10 season as well as having 2 cup starts and he also had 4 sub starts in 2010-11. Danny went on to play for Colwyn Bay, Lincoln City, Tamworth, AFC Fylde, Stockport, Peterborough United. Salford City, Tranmere, Gillingham, Rochdale and Livingston.

Danny now has over 100 appearances for the club and by the end of the 2025-26 season had 25 goals to his name across all competitions.

Luke Burgess

Attacking midfielder, Luke was former manager Jim Bentley’s first permanent signing in mid October 23. The midfielder who has previous experience with Wigan and Salford spent the 2022-23 season at Oldham before  loan spells at Altrincham and Ashton United.

Luke is another player with over 100 appearances in all competitions for the club.

Luke Griffiths

Luke initially joined the club on a deal until the end of the 2025-26 season, with an option in the club’s favour for a further year which was quickly taken up for 2026-27.

The central midfielder arrived on a free transfer from Macclesfield, having previously made over 40 appearances for Curzon Ashton before moving to the Silkmen. His former clubs also include Warrington Town.

Ben Wynne

Twenty-four-year-old attacking midfielder Ben Wynne arrives at Haig Avenue after establishing himself as one of the Cymru Premier’s most consistent creative players. Having broken through in senior football with Cefn Druids, he has also enjoyed spells with Aberystwyth Town, Caernarfon Town and, most recently, Flint Town United.

Wynne became a hugely popular figure with the Flint supporters, scoring nine goals and providing three assists in 30 appearances last season. An attacking midfielder with an eye for goal, he also possesses a dangerous long throw-in that offers an additional attacking weapon.

Regan Griffiths Midfield

Regan arrives at Haig Avenue with experience across both the Football League and National League after progressing through the academy at Crewe Alexandra.

The 26-year-old signed his first professional contract with Crewe in 2018 and went on to make more than 50 first-team appearances across League One, League Two and cup competitions. During his time with the Railwaymen, he also gained valuable senior experience on loan with Kidsgrove Athletic, Witton Albion, Notts County and Boreham Wood.

Following his departure from Crewe in January 2024, Regan joined Kidderminster Harriers before spending the first half of the following season with Marine. A move to National League side Altrincham followed before he signed for Macclesfield, where he made 23 appearances during the 2025-26 campaign before departing this summer.

A technically accomplished central midfielder, he is equally effective in a deeper holding role or in a more advanced midfield position. He combines an excellent range of passing with the energy and work rate to contribute at both ends of the pitch.

Christy Edwards Forward

Christy adds another attacking option following his departure from Wigan Athletic. The 19-year-old progressed through the Latics’ academy before making two senior appearances in the EFL Trophy during the 2025-26 season. He also gained his first taste of senior football during a loan spell with Witton Albion as he continued his development.

Primarily a right winger, Edwards is capable of playing on either flank and arrives at Haig Avenue looking to establish himself in senior football after progressing through one of the region’s leading academy systems.

Impressed in the pre-season games with his ability to take on his defender.

Jordan Slew Forward

Jordan joined Southport following his departure from Morecambe at the end of the 2025-26 season. Having played for a whole host of Football League clubs, Jordan brings both firepower and experience to our frontline.

Jordan’s previous clubs include the likes of Blackburn Rovers, Rotherham United and Port Vale. The striker broke through Sheffield United’s academy, having joined them at age 11, going onto make his professional debut in October 2010.

Following spells elsewhere in the Football League, including achieving promotion with Plymouth Argyle, Jordan dropped into non-league with Radcliffe, Boston United and Ashton United. However, he made a return to the EFL with Morecambe FC, joining them in January 2020, where he stayed until summer 2021. A two-year spell at FC Halifax Town came after that, where he made 62 appearances, scoring 13 times and helping the Shayman reach the playoffs. Jordan rejoined Morecambe FC on a two-year deal which expired this summer, after making 75 appearances in League Two.

Had a great 2025-26 season and quickly became a real fans favourite.

Malakai McKenzie Forward

Malakai joined us in the summer of 2025 and is a talented right winger who loves to dribble at defenders and is a player who gets supporters off their seats. Despite his young age, he has racked up plenty of experience.

He started out his career at Bolton Wanderers, emerging through the youth ranks before sealing a move to Bury, then Chorley. He then had a stint at Icelandic club Dalvík/Reynir in 2022 before becoming a part of the FC Malaga City Academy, famous for showcasing the top unsigned talents across the globe. Malakai also featured for Avro FC in the 2024-25 season.

Scored some excellent goals for the club in 2025-26 and another player we are delighted to have on our books for the 2026-27 season.

Sol Solomon Forward

Sol Solomon arrives at Haig Avenue with an impressive goalscoring pedigree despite being only 25 years old. The Jersey international began his career with St Peter before joining Jersey Bulls in 2019, where he became the club’s record goalscorer with 60 goals in 71 appearances.

While studying at the University of Liverpool, Sol continued to represent the Bulls, regularly travelling back to the island for matches. After a trial with Luton Town, he joined Marine in 2022 and scored 29 goals in 62 appearances, helping the club secure promotion to the National League North.

His form earned him a move to League Two side Tranmere Rovers in the summer of 2024. However, an injury-hit spell, coupled with a managerial change, limited his first-team opportunities and he arrives at Southport following his release this summer.

A versatile forward capable of playing through the middle or out wide, Sol brings pace, movement and a proven eye for goal.

Daniel Ogwuru Forward

21-year-old striker Daniel has followed an unconventional route through the academy system. Having begun his football career with Bolton Wanderers, he attracted the attention of Manchester City, who signed him as a 14-year-old. During his time at the Etihad Campus he progressed through the age groups and featured in the UEFA Youth League.

He continued his development at Norwich City, where he became a regular for the Canaries’ Under-21 side and shortly before the end of his time at Carrow Road joined Buxton for a brief spell to gain his first experience of senior football.

Following his release by Norwich, Morecambe moved quickly to bring him to the Mazuma Stadium ahead of their first season back in non-league, and it was Daniel who scored a dramatic winner in the 98th minute in their delayed first game of the season.

He found minutes hard to come by and had loan spells at Ashton United and at Workington before arriving at Haig Avenue upon the expiry of his contract.

Daniel is a powerful and athletic centre-forward who is equally comfortable playing on the shoulder of the last defender or linking play with runners around him. His pace and willingness to press from the front make him well suited to an energetic, high-intensity style of football, while his academy background is reflected in his technical ability and movement both in and out of possession.

Cameron Ferguson Forward (Loan Out 1 Month Bamber Bridge from 28 July)

Cameron arrives following a successful spell with Bala Town in the Cymru Premier. The 23-year-old spent part of his childhood living in Majorca after his father, former Everton and Scotland striker Duncan Ferguson, retired from playing.

On returning to England, Ferguson entered Everton’s academy at the age of nine and remained there until he was 15. He subsequently joined Tranmere Rovers, where former Southport player and coach Alan Morgan was involved in his development.

Cameron was offered professional terms by Tranmere but instead accepted an opportunity to trial with Newcastle United, subsequently earning a three-year contract. His time in the north-east included a loan spell with Forfar Athletic during the final year of his agreement.

A move to Inverness Caledonian Thistle followed, although the club’s financial problems and entry into administration brought his time there to an early conclusion.

He continued his career in Wales with Connah’s Quay Nomads, where an ankle ligament injury kept him out for approximately three months. Following a change of manager, he moved to Flint Town United before joining Bala during the second half of last season.
His period at Maes Tegid brought the most productive senior football of his career to date. Ferguson was named Cymru Premier Player of the Month for March and finished the campaign as both Bala’s Supporters’ Player of the Season and Committee Player of the Season.

Standing 6ft 3in, he gives Southport another physical option through the centre of the attack.
