Our Academy side went down 4-3 after a penalty shoot out against Trafford in the FA Youth Cup last night.

In a pulsating and highly entertaining clash full of drama the score at 90 minutes was 3-3,

Southport took an early lead but then Trafford went on to dominate the rest of the first half and went in to the break with a well deserved 3-1 lead and at half time few could have anticipated what would happen in the second half.

A transformed Southport under the management of David Morgan dominated the half and pulled the scores level and looked the more likely to snatch the winner but time ran out and it was straight to penalties.
