EFL-experienced striker adds to our attack

We’re delighted to announce the signing of Jordan Slew on a one-year deal.

The 32-year old joins us following his summer departure from Morecambe FC. Having played for a whole host of Football League clubs, Jordan brings both firepower and experience to our frontline.

Jordan’s previous clubs include the likes of Blackburn Rovers, Rotherham United and Port Vale. The striker broke through Sheffield United’s academy, having joined them at age 11, going onto make his professional debut in October 2010.

Following spells elsewhere in the Football League, including achieving promotion with Plymouth Argyle, Jordan dropped into non-league with Radcliffe, Boston United and Ashton United. However, he made a return to the EFL with Morecambe FC, joining them in January 2020, where he stayed until summer 2021. A two-year spell at FC Halifax Town came after that, where he made 62 appearances, scoring 13 times and helping the Shayman reach the playoffs. Jordan rejoined Morecambe FC on a two-year deal which expired this summer, after making 75 appearances in League Two.

Manager Neil Danns commented “We’re really pleased to attract a player of Jordan’s pedigree to the football club, and he comes to us having had a really good career in the Football League.”

“Since I came in we’ve been looking to add a physical presence at the top of the pitch, and Jordan will give us that and so much more. He’s still very mobile and has got goals in him so we’re excited about seeing him in a Southport shirt.”
