We return to Haig Avenue after a tough couple of weeks on the road with close on 1700 miles on the clock.
Our visitors are Merthyr Town who we welcome to Haig Avenue for the first time ever. We did play Merthyr Tydfil in our early Conference National days.
Merthyr are something of a surprise packet this season. They were 50/1 for the title at the start of the season but have surprised everyone and sit in third place in the table.
They have the highest Goals For and Goals Against aggregate in the league with 108, the next highest is 92. They are the leagues leading scorers on 64 but have conceded 44, Souhport have conceded 45.
We played at Merthyr in our first game of the season going down 2-0 on an afternoon when the many chances we created didn’t go in.
