Defender commits to Port for the upcoming season

We’re pleased to announce that Aaron Pickles has rejoined Southport for the 2025-26 season on a permanent basis. Aaron has signed an initial one-year deal, with the option of an extra season in the Club’s favour.

Aaron made 14 appearances in the National League North last season for Southport, joining on loan from EFL League Two side Accrington Stanley in January. Aaron’s initial one-month loan ended up being extended until the end of the season, following several solid performances at centre-back.

The 20-year old is a product of the Accrington Stanley Academy, rising through their ranks and going on to make 18 league appearances for Stanley’s First Team.

Manager Neil Danns said “We’re pleased to complete the deal for Aaron who Southport supporters will know well.”

“He’s a tough, aggressive central defender who will add steal and fight to us and further strengthens us in defensive areas. He is also still only 20 so has masses of growth left in his development. It’s easy to forget that as he plays like a man but we’re excited to work with him and welcome Aaron back to Haig Avenue.”
