Walking Footballers Report

Our Over 60’s Walking Football Team took part in a multi team tournament at Clitheroe today and put in a fine performance narrowly failing to reach the semi-final.

The first game saw the lads draw 2-2 against Preston. Having held the lead most of the game it was only the very last kick of the game that gave Preston the draw.

The second match was against “The Panthers” and that ended in a 1-1 draw.

Going in to the final game a win would have sealed a place in the semi’s but it was not to be and they went down 1-0.

It was an eventful afternoon and we all hope the player from Garstang who had to be taken to hospital by air ambulance makes a full and speedy recovery. The latest news we have is he is doing well in hospital.

The squad put up great show against some top level players.

Players from the England Over 60’s and Over 70’s sides were involved in some of the games.

The squad was Rob Urwin (GK), Steve Thompson, John Walton, Ray Briggs, Steve Draper, Claude Devito, Dave Hughes, Thomas Holden and Ian Cook, expertly managed by Colin Dale.
