UPDATE | First Team

Now the National League North campaign is underway, Southport Football Club can provide some clarity to supporters on the following injuries to first team players.

Elliot Osborne (toe impact injury)
Elliot trained all week before the opening league game without any problems after bruising and swelling from the Barrow friendly.

Unfortunately, in the Telford game he sustained a blow to the toe again in the first few minutes which caused significant pain and discomfort.

Swelling continued and an x-ray was taken at the weekend. He will return to training once it settles to avoid any further problems, hence why he didn’t feature for the club against Altrincham.

Dean Winnard (groin pain)
From a previous sportsman’s hernia surgery in May 2018.

Dean is attending a consultant appointment today and findings will be discussed privately in training tomorrow ahead of the Stockport game.

Andy Parry (hamstring)
Suffered this injury in the open public pre-season friendly at Radcliffe back at the start of July.

Andy has had problematic issues with his right knee before this injury and is being addressed through gym based rehab and agility-landing drills.

His recovery has progressed well recently and there is a view to phasing him back into training over the next few weeks.

Brad Bauress (left knee)
No previous history of this but suffered pain after a running session.

Doctor assessment took place last night and a mild sprain has happened.

Pain needs to settle over the next few weeks before returning to training.

Liam Martin (ACL)
It’s now been nearly six months after his reconstruction and is progressing really well as per the protocol set out in his recovery.

All other squad players are fit and available for training and selection this week.
