TRANSFERS | Mark O’Brien Joins Southport On Loan

Mark O’Brien has joined Southport from Luton Town on a three month loan deal.

O’Brien arrives for his second spell at The Sandgrounders, having joined on a one month loan deal in March during last season. During his time on loan Mark made 7 appearances for Southport – scoring 1 goal in a 3-3 draw with Welling United at The Merseyrail Community Stadium.

Mark made 7 appearances for Luton Town last season in League 2, having spent the entire season on loan at Motherwell in The Scottish Premiership the season before accruing 19 appearances. Mark also has 32 Sky Bet Championship appearances to his name with Derby County over 7 seasons in addition to 2 Republic Of Ireland Under-19 appearances.

Mark was named Derby County Academy Player Of The Year in 08/09 – and won Republic Of Ireland U19 Player Of The Year in the same season. He also collected Derby County’s “Contribution to the Community Award” in 2012.

The club would like to welcome Mark to The Merseyrail Community Stadium and hope that he can build upon his impressive performances from his first spell at Southport.
