Southport FC can confirm that our Chief Scout, Tommy Lawson, will be leaving the club as of 1st July 2024 to pursue a new role in management, taking up the position as Skelmersdale United’s first team manager.
Tommy has been a fantastic servant for the club, with his track record speaking for itself, scouting several players who have gone on to have successful Southport FC careers.
Andy Burgess Head of Football Operations had this to say about Tommy:
“Tommy has been an important member of the football staff for many years, helping identify and recruit many players to the football club from the local and regional area. Having worked closely with Liam, he transitioned into Jim’s management team seamlessly and spent last season, as ever, being a constant source of knowledge and know-how about young, hungry, and up and coming prospects.
When he informed me, he was moving back to Skem, I could tell there was a sense of disappointment that he’s leaving us, but at the same time, excitement at what lies in store for him back at Skem.
We wish him every bit of success in his new role and extend a massive thank you for the work he has done for Southport Football Club, where he will always be welcomed.”
Everyone at Southport FC wish Tommy all the best in his new role and thank him for his fantastic service at the club.
