Role: Head Physiotherapist

Job Title: Head Physiotherapist

Reports to: First Team Manager

Hours: 37.5 hours per week with additional hours as required.

Salary: Negotiable

Jobs reporting to the job holder: Volunteers, students

Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

MANAGEMENT OF INJURIES
– To provide accurate assessment, diagnosis, and physiotherapy management to all players, ensuring best practice is followed at all times.
– Work alongside other members of the playing department to design and implement effective, age and maturation specific screening and injury prevention strategies.
– To arrange external investigations and treatment as required.

MEDICAL PROVISION AT MATCHES/TRAINING/TOURS
– To provide match day/training/tournament physiotherapy cover as required, both home and away.
– To assist the Fitness Coach in the design, maintenance and implementation of an evidence based, best practice emergency action plan.
– To assist in the checking and maintenance of all emergency medical equipment.

COMMUNICATION
– To maintain timely, accurate physiotherapy medical record keeping in line with CSP standards.
– Communicate effectively with relevant personnel within the Club regarding player availability/ injury updates, as necessary.
– To develop and maintain relationships with external contacts.

CLINICAL GOVERNANCE
– To ensure all policies and procedures are up to date.
– To maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times.
– To maintain a thorough, up to date CPD portfolio as per CSP/HCPC requirements.
– To co-ordinate and contribute to the physiotherapy in-service training programme at the Club.
– To lead in the education of all players and parents as required (i.e., injury prevention, recovery, anti-doping etc.)

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
– To assist with warm ups, cool downs and individual/squad conditioning sessions as required.
– Other relevant duties as determined by the Manager.

Essential Knowledge/Experience/Skills:
– Chartered Physiotherapist with registration to the HCPC.
– Minimum of 4 years post graduate experience.
– Previous experience of working in an elite sporting environment.
– Extensive musculoskeletal assessment skills.
– Extensive skills in manual therapy and exercise prescription.
– Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external parties (i.e., coaches, players, parents, external medical contacts etc.)
– Ability to work well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
– IT literate.
– Display a high level of professionalism at all times.
– Highly motivated, with a passion for working within an elite football setting.
– Utmost confidentiality at all times.

Desireable Knowledge/Experience/Skills:
– Minimum 2 years experience in football, or elite full-time sport environment
– MSc or other equivalent post-graduate qualification.
– Knowledge of S&C principles.
