PROFILE | Versatile Defender

Zehn Mohammed, who re-joins Southport on loan from Accrington Stanley, first signed for the SkyBet League One side as an under 16.

The defender, who has played predominately on the right side of the back line but is equally at home in the centre, is one of several highly-rated youngsters within the Stanley youth set-up.

Zehn, now 19, began his career with Blackburn Rovers, his home-town club, before signing a two-year contract with Accrington in July 2017, on the back of a successful period at the Wham Stadium.

He made his first-team debut for Accrington in the EFL Trophy in January, shortly after his first loan stay with Southport came to an end.

Having signed for the Port in November, Zehn started the FA Trophy First Round tie against Solihull Moors before being named on the bench five times.

To give him experience of first-team action, Zehn began last season with Clitheroe having played the previous campaign for Ramsbottom United, collecting their Player of the Month in January 2018.

After returning from Southport, he finished last season with FC United of Manchester, providing him with the game-time in the Vanarama National League North that Port manager Liam Watson says has helped him develop as a player.

Zehn has been part of the Southport squad throughout pre-season and found his way onto the scoresheet against the Fleetwood Town Development Squad on Monday, heading in a cross to complete the 3-0 win.
