PREVIEW | Southport U18 vs Billinge Rangers

Southport’s youngsters are just one game and win away from the Lancashire FA U18 County Youth Cup Final as they host Billinge Rangers at 1pm tomorrow (Sunday 20 January) at the Merseyrail Community Stadium.

The Port are pushing for a record fifth triumph in the age-group competition, with only the Maroons standing in their way of a cup final as either Bae Warton U18s or AFC Fylde U18s Youth await.

Neither side have played much league football this season with both teams currently having six and five games in-hand respectively.

Sunday’s visitors currently play in the Warrington Junior Football League, they sit in sixth place with just two wins from their opening five games.

The side have faced a tough route to the semi-final, narrowly edging out Highfield Grange and quarter-final opponents Ashton Athletic, 3-2.

Wesley Owens, Charlie Allen and Rustam Stephans have been instrumental in Southport’s run. After a 24-1 thrashing of Wigan Junior Latics, they cruised to the quarter-finals before needing extra-time and penalties to overcome Preston-based Cadley FC in the last eight.
