We travel to the North East on Saturday to take on Spennymoor Town, the kick off is at 3pm.
It’s not a happy hunting ground for Southport, we have never beaten Spennymoor Town in 90 minutes but we did come away with an FA Trophy win the last time we met, after winning the penalty shoot out.
Our record at Spennymoor Town.
|2020/21||FAT3||D||2-2||0||Ali, Newell (Win 5-4 pens)|
You have to go back to the 2003/04 season to find our only win at the ground which came in a 2-0 triumph with Neil Robinson getting both goals against what was then Spennymoor United. A record we will be looking at improving on Saturday.
Southport will be buoyed by a superb second half showing against Gloucester City last Saturday when they so nearly snatched the victory after twice coming from behind.
Our Nemesis in Glen Taylor was on the scoresheet in The Moors excellent 2-1 win at Boston with James Curtis, who I think has played against Southport more than any other player, and is in his sixth season at the club, captaining the side.
