NEW | Southport Wildcats Centre

The Southport FC Community Foundation has taken another huge step in its development by successfully being accepted as an SSE Wildcats Centre.

With nearly 900 centres across the country, the sessions provide football opportunities for 5-11 year-olds.

The new initiative in Southport will offer an organised and fun environment for girls to get into the game.

Details on the session, including a start date, through the club’s charitable arm will be advertised in due course, but the Head of Community Lee Folkard is delighted to offer more inclusivity through the Community Foundation; “To secure FA funding for the girls wildcats project for our community is a massive boost. We have some great young female footballers in the area and we are looking forward to transitioning them into a playing environment through the foundation.”

Working with the Liverpool County FA, the session will be delivered by qualified coaches at local facilities to offer girls nearby a place where they can meet new friends, develop their skills and ultimately become more engaged with Southport FC.

SSE Wildcats has been established in partnership with SSE, supporters of girls’ football participation and sponsor of the SSE Women’s FA Cup, with support from UEFA, FIFA and the Youth Sport Trust.
