The Board are pleased to welcome, as a new Director, West Lancashire based entrepreneur Anthony Evans. A former Stockport County Director, Anthony has led and advised many successful businesses in the last 15 years including civil engineering and groundworks specialist Conform North West and legal firm GT Law where, as a strategic adviser to the Board, he helped grow the business into one of the UK’s fastest growing law firms with fee income in 2014 of £12m.
Anthony has since gone on to set up, based in Southport, IT specialist Techedia, which recently announced plans to double the size of its business and create 75 jobs in Southport. He is currently the Chief Executive of WARS Trading which is set to transform the waste management sector by using new technologies and innovation to create clean energy.
Southport FC Director Ian Kyle said: “Tony’s skills as an entrepreneur and his knowledge of the football boardroom mean he is uniquely placed to assist the current Board as we look to emerge strongly from these challenging times. I am confident that how we have dealt with the last 12 months shows that we have a strong Board in place, and Tony will now help us move forward and deliver a successful future for Southport FC. He has many ties and links with successful local, national and international businesses, which will create opportunities to establish new links and sponsorships to add to those businesses that have thankfully supported us for the last 12 months or longer.”
Anthony said: “I’m grateful for the opportunity to make a contribution which will help drive the club’s success both on and off the pitch. I am looking forward to working with the Board, staff, volunteers , fans and businesses in the local community. I am excited about what can be achieved as the infrastructure, in terms of the stadium, plus the plans that the Board has for the future, puts us on a strong footing to really move Southport fc forward whilst maintaining its values as a community club.”
Ian added “The Board are pleased that Anthony approached us with a view to getting involved with the Club, as we are intent on always looking at the best interests of Southport FC, and what we can do to strengthen the Club’s position moving forward. It is particularly pleasing that local businessmen like Anthony are looking to get involved and help the Club in our plan for self-sufficiency and success on and off the pitch”.
We will be bringing a full introductory interview with Anthony in the next few days.
