LOAN WATCH | 2018/19 Season (3)

Once again Southport’s out on loan players have been finding their feet at their temporary clubs, with each enjoying different fortunes.

Dan Cockerline

Of the players out on loan, Dan Cockerline at Hednesford Town has enjoyed the best week, getting his first goal for The Pitmen against Whitby Town.

Just before the half-hour mark, Cockerline got on the end of a Howard cross in the box to put his side ahead.

Archer doubled the lead in the second half as Hednesford came away with a 2-1 victory over the Blues at the weekend.

The Pitmen failed to follow that up with a third victory in a row, crumbling to a 3-1 defeat against local rivals Stafford Rangers on Tuesday night.

Despite taking the lead through Howard in the 19th minute, the Reds were victorious scoring twice in the first half and adding a second in the second.

Three weeks into the season, Hednesford’s mixed form is reflected in their league position as they currently sit in 10th.

After getting his first goal of the campaign, Cockerline will be hoping to build on it and add more to his tally.

Lewis Doyle

Elsewhere Lewis Doyle was on the bench for Droylsden in their 3-1 defeat against Market Drayton.

Despite the Southport born midfielder coming on in the 53rd minute, he was unable to help the Bloods overcome a 3-1 half time score-line.

Doyle was promoted to the starting line-up in midweek game against Squires Gate in the FA Cup preliminary round replay.

It would be another loss for the Bloods, as they crashed out of the competition with a 1-0 defeat.

Marine Duo

Neither of the Marine pair featured in Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat against Grantham Town, as the club undergoes management changes after the departure of Tommy Lawson.

Liam Davies did make the bench for the Mariners midweek 0-0 draw against Witton Albion.

New Loanee

In other news Josh Dobie has gone out on loan to Runcorn Linnets, after making a brief appearance for the club at Alfreton. He made his debut for his new side on Saturday, coming off the bench in their weekend 2-1 victory over Trafford.

The former Liverpool youth player will come up against Colwyn Bay on Saturday as he hopes for a successful spell with the club.
