Churchtown Triumph In Phil Carder Cup

After an abortive attempt to play for the Phil Carder Cup in 2015 the weather had another go at spoiling things as Churchtown and Trust in Yellow took to the field at The Rookery.

Churchtown batted first and racked up a formidable 170 runs from their 20 overs despite some fine bowling from the TIY front line bowlers.

The Trust team were always behind the run rate losing wickets at regular stages to disrupt their rhythm.

As the rain got heavier and the pitch livelier it was always going to be a tough task but great credit to everyone who bowled, batted or fielded as the Trust put in a great show to finish on 139-7 just 32 short of the target.

Phil’s sister Janet was on hand to make the presentation to Greg Pennington who did so much to get the occasion organised.
