Game 2 in the pre season warm up series saw Southport come back from two goals down to end all square.
It was an entertaining game with chances at both ends of the pitch and it was Bootle who took the lead in the 23rd minute after a fine cross in was finished from close range.
Tunde Owolabi did have the ball in the net in the 27th minute but it was ruled out for offside.
1-0 to the home side at the break and they doubled the lead in the 67th minute when Keenan Quansah slipped and allowed the home attacker to run in and slot home past Tony McMillan in the Southport goal.
Southport were awarded a penalty two minutes later after a goalline handball and Danny Lloyd stepped up to slot home.
With 8 minutes to go Southport equalised. A free kick was sent into the box and the ball was scrambled home. We were unsure of the goalscorer with a possibility of an own goal, trialist or Tom Moore getting the decisive touch before a clip confirmed it as an own goal.
Bootle nearly grabbed a late winner in bizarre circumstances when a high ball seemed to hang in the air for an eternity before hitting the bar.
Another good work out against a lively Bootle side
