Following a recruitment drive for six new roles at the club in May, Southport Football Club are pleased to announce that Michael Brown has been appointed Head of Media and Online Content.
Michael, 25, joins Southport from the Manchester Football Association, where he spent over two-and-a-half years there as the Marketing and Communications Officer.
A graduate from UCFB Burnley in Football Business & Media, he has been involved in football for a number of years, gaining valuable and worthwhile experiences at Football4Football, Ashton United and The FA’s England setup.
Responsible for managing, developing and driving Southport’s media communications activity online, Michael commented: “I’m extremely excited to be joining such an ambitious organisation. My dream has always been to work within a football club’s media department. I have some exciting plans for the season ahead and I can’t wait to begin and start working with the excellent volunteer team already in place.
“I’m an avid fan of non-league football, so to be given this amazing opportunity is something I am very thankful for and I look forward to meeting everyone involved with Southport in pre-season.”
On the appointment, Natalie Atkinson CEO of Southport FC said: “Whilst the club continues to progress at a rapid pace ahead of the 2018-19 season, the introduction of Michael into this new role will allow us to further enhance our PR activity within the local community as well as further afield.
“He’s an ambitious young man and matches the values of the club. This role also shows how committed we are to ensure we continue to develop in all areas.”
Michael will start on Tuesday 26 June.
