Lewer & Wright: "We've a lot of work still to do, but we're very pleased we've been able to sign these two key targets."

20-year-old striker Kaiman Anderson and 23-year-old defender Curtis Jones have become Southport FC’s first signings ahead of the new season.

Both players have joined the club on one year contracts with a one year extension available.

Kaiman Anderson

Shrewsbury-born Anderson joins on a free transfer after the end of his contract at League 1 Shrewsbury Town. Anderson scored 18 goals for Halesowen in just half a season on loan from Shrewsbury, and continued his impressive form on loan for Oxford City at the end of last term. Mark Wright and Alan Lewer hope Anderson can continue both his development and his impressive form for Southport.

Curtis Jones

Curtis Jones made 54 appearances for Nantwich Town last season in all competitions. His career began as youth player at Stockport County before joining Celtic, spending time in their Under-21 team. He has also been with Bristol City, TNS, Livingstone, Mossley and Abbey Hey. Curtis can be utilised both in defence and midfield.

Alan Lewer and Mark Wright said: “We’re very happy with our first piece of business ahead of the season, with two key players joining the club. We’ve been impressed with the standard of football shown by both Kaiman and Curtis last season and they will be important players for us. We’ve a lot of work still to do, but we’re very pleased we’ve been able to sign these two key targets.”

Anderson and Jones join the players remaining under contract from last season’s squad being Liam Hynes and Ross White. Discussions are being held with certain out of contract players from last season’s squad.
