TEAM NEWS FOR SATURDAYS HOME MATCH VERSUS WORKINGTON KICK OFF 3PM Friday, October 31, 2008 (94 reads)
On loan Derby County teenage goalkeeper Ross Atkins will make his Port debut tomorrow between the sticks. Left sided player Matty McGinn is poised to return after ligament problems but top scorer Ciaran Kilheeney is a major doubt after missing training through injury. Midfielder John Doolan remains on the sidelines due to his hamstring strain not yet clearing up. Speaking to the Visiter Liam Watson also said that a decision on left winger Michael Barnes long term will be made in the next two weeks. The Southport manager in Liam's Lines also underlined his total faith in keeper Tony McMillan "I think it is pretty criminal to criticise Tony, he made one mistake against Blyth and one on Saturday against Redditch and I see this criticism as a bit like bullying. I have had Tony for five years and he has won leagues. I am happy to put my reputation against him." |

SOUTHPORT V WORKINGTON Wednesday, October 29, 2008 (73 reads)
Southport play host to Workington on Saturday with a 3pm kick off. The Sandgrounders will be looking to bounce straight back after a second half horror show against Redditch United which saw a 2-0 lead thrown away. The weather forecast for the weekend is much better so hopefully after two games played in dreadful conditions we will have calmer weather this time around. Workington come to Haig Avenue with a poor away record having no wins on their travels and they have scored just 2 goals, the lowest in the division. They have only conceded 8 goals and sit in 15th position in the table. Come on down and support the team on Saturday!
