James Cave is distributing the tickets in KGV while the main reception at Southport College have the tickets for the College. Meols Cop won the first free secondary schools ticket competition in September and will receive a voucher from Broadhurst's Booksellers Limited. |

PORT YOUTH DIP OUT OF FA YOUTH CUP ON PENALTIES Sunday, September 28, 2008 (71 reads)
Southport's Caterforce sponsored youth development squad suffered penalty shoot out anguish on Sunday afternoon against an impressive Cammell Lairds outfit. The Sandgrounders should have gone through to the next round after clinching a two nil half time lead courtesy of a Nathan Martland 36th minute penalty and a Josh Hine strike two minutes later. But Lairds got back in the tie at the start of the second half before forcing extra time in the 83rd minute. The home keeper Paul Davies made several excellent saves while the Port hit the cross bar in the first half and the post in the second. Southport also had two late efforts cleared off the Cammell Lairds line. The home side also had two players very late on sent off for second yellow offences But in the penalty shoot out Cammell Lairds were clinical converting their four needed to win while Southport saw their first penalty saved and their third sail way over the cross bar. The tie was watched by former Port defender Derek Ward who this week was appointed the new manager of Cammell Lairds. |
