GRASSHOPPERS AT HAIG AVENUE Tuesday, July 22, 2008 (16 reads)
Everyone at Southport Football Club wishes Sam Moran good luck in his future career after the teenage groundsman informed the club he had decided to make a career change. Sam was nominted by other teams in the Blue Square North last season for for the Insitute of Groundmanship/ FA Groundsman of the Year. We will find out how Sam fares when the results are announced, usually in September. However Sam who has a variety of talents has decided at the start of this season to move on.
Our new groundsmen team are the Grasshoppers a local firm with a wealth of experience with football grounds, cricket pitches and golf courses. Led by Jimmy "Grasshopper" the team have done a great job at Marine and Formby in the last two seasons and have been keen to ply their talents for the 'Port on the Haig Avenue surface.
Good luck for the Grasshoppers as they aim to produce a winning 'Port pitch for Liam Watson's warrior squad. |

TONIGHT TRANMERE AT HAIG AVENUE KICK OFF 7:30PM Tuesday, July 22, 2008 (18 reads)
Ronnie Moore's Tranmere Rovers are here at Haig Avenue tonight. The former Port boss is expected to bring a strong Rovers squad to test Liam Watson's new look squad. Kick off is at 7:30pm.
Season tickets will be on sale in the club shop. All sizes of our new Nike home shirt are also available in the club shop tonight. |

As the season nears secretary Ken Hilton and safety officer Mick Jackson are doing an off the pitch "Liam" by putting their off the pitch Port squads of volunteers together. We have a great team of volunteers for match days who do a fantastic job and you are invited to give the club that extra boost by becoming part of the back room squad. Secretary Ken Hilton is looking for volunteers to help out with match day organisation while Mick Jackson is always looking to recruit stewards. Commercially our programme sellers did a great job last season and we are looking to expand with even more sellers next season. So if you want to do that little bit more and become part of our happy Haig Avenue back room staff on match days contact Ken Hilton on 01704 533422 who will be glad to have a chat and take down your details. |
