TWO AWAY TRIPS TO BOOST PROMOTION BID Wednesday, February 25, 2009 (53 reads)
Southport travel to Workington on Saturday seeking a Blue Square North victory. Promotion has been the aim of the game all season and the Port need to pocket the points in order to exploit their matches in hand and haul back in form Gateshead. Southport are back on the road to title rivals Tamworth on Tuesday night in a real six pointer. News out of the camp following Tuesday night's Trophy defeat revolves around recent signing Ashley Winn. The ex Barrow and Stalybridge Celtic midfielder had an x-ray on Tuesday night which revealed no break. But Winn's shin is very sore and unlikely to be ready for the weekend. Chris Lever will be back in squad after being ill at the weekend and a serious family illness led to his unavailabilty for the Telford replay. Alan Moogan is close to returning to the centre of midfield after intensive treatment on his hamstring. |
