Everyone at Southport Football Club wishes Sam Moran good luck in his future career after the teenage groundsman informed the club he had decided to make a career change. Sam was nominted by other teams in the Blue Square North last season for for the Insitute of Groundmanship/ FA Groundsman of the Year. We will find out how Sam fares when the results are announced, usually in September. However Sam who has a variety of talents has decided at the start of this season to move on.
Our new groundsmen team are the Grasshoppers a local firm with a wealth of experience with football grounds, cricket pitches and golf courses. Led by Jimmy "Grasshopper" the team have done a great job at Marine and Formby in the last two seasons and have been keen to ply their talents for the 'Port on the Haig Avenue surface.
